Arc'terex Veilance ss2012: well covered

Arc'Terex Veilance have made an art out of taking a classic piece and making a tech marvel out of it. Their field jacket, which is inspired by the M65, is all sharp lines and ergonomic cuts and three-layer waterproofing and is as far removed from its cotton  ancestor as you could wish to get.

But when you're a brand that focuses on classic pieces your collection is going to be reasonably limited, So you won't find a lot in the way of ground-breaking new designs and instead you will find a new range of grey colourways. That's great news for someone who has laid down £900+  for a Veilance piece in  the past - at least it won't feel out of date.

Star Wars exhibit: look closely, young one

Things were never quite the way they first seemed in the Star Wars universe. Take the Ewoks - cute teddy bears at first glance, vicious little spear chuckers in reality. And what about the Jawas?

This could be the thinking behind the artwork in the Star Wars Identities exhibit, or it could just be some inspired thinking. Whatever, these images are more than they at first appear.

The show will take place from April 19 in Montreal.

Mister Freedon Chaparal Blouse: wear it

I've been getting well into Mister Freedom lately, with my interest piqued by the arrival of my denim Ranch Blouse, details of which I will post later.

This Chaparral blouse is from the LA-based company's 2012 collection, which draws from the sort of stuff which might have been about in the 1900s. The collection is actually called "Men of the Frontier" but as Mister Freedom is at pains to point out, "it was not designed for re-enacting 3:10 to Yuma, but to mix with what you feel appropriate."

The key thing with this as with all Mister Freedom, is the more you wear it, the better it looks.

Acronym SS12: timeless futurism

With all this attention focused around heritage and workwear collections, I'm not sure if it's reassuring or worrying to see Acronym wheel out another collection which looks almost identical to everything else it has put out over the last few years.

The trouble is, as everyone else moves on from stark technical futuristic lines and leafs back through the scrapbooks of history to a more deconstructed time, Acronym's German roots really begin to show through.

But there are a couple of aspects which keep the Acronym name alive for me, such as the waterproof fabrics, the ergonomic fit and the  faultless manufacturing.

The Avengers: all together now

This is a kind of all-inclusive dose of Marvel superheroes featuring just about every character who has been refurbished over recent years.

So you get Ironman, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, and Scarlett Johansson as that karate-kicking Black Widow as well as a whole load more.

Like an already complete collection of McDonalds meal-deal toys, which move.

All of a sudden the summer just got a whole lot brighter.

This might as well be called something like the 'Kate Upton Slot' now, but she does seem to be doing all sorts of things lately that demand our attention, so here she is again.
